Goichi Suda's ADV "Silver 2425" is full of crazy horror hidden in it.

"Silver 2425" contains the masterpiece adventure "Silver Case" by Mr. Goichi Suda of Grasshopper Manufacture and its sequel "Silver Case 25 Wards".

In 1999, Grasshopper Manufacture's debut work "Silver Incident", led by Goichi Suda, was released to the world (the original PlayStation version was released by ASCII). Starting with a unique game system in which multiple "windows (screens)" intersect, the world view filled with the essence of Mr. Goichi Suda, impressive characters, etc. are packed with charms different from conventional adventure games.

After that, in 2005, the sequel "Silver Case 25 Wards" was released as a mobile phone app. These two works have received high acclaim as indispensable titles when talking about Mr. Goichi Suda.

The two incidents created by Goichi Suda have since been remastered in HD and are now playable on PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. In addition, "Silver 2425", which is a set of the remastered Silver Case and the 25th Ward of the Silver Case, has also been released.

Decades after its release, the 2-part Silver Case continues to shine with silver, rather than fading. This time, I was able to play the Nintendo Switch version of Silver 2425, which was released on February 18th, so I would like to talk about the appeal of the two incidents in this article.

The Silver Case that impacted my life

Actually, I have played the PlayStation version of The Silver Case. Although he made his debut when he was a university student, he was overwhelmed by the intense power presented by the Silver case and immediately became a captive of Mr. Goichi Suda. It is no exaggeration to say that the Silver Incident, which combines entertainment and art, has had a great impact on my life and game life. That's why, let's start with the memorable Silver case.

The Silver Case is one of the titles that has impacted my life

The stage of the Silver Incident is the 24th Ward, a special self-governing district controlled by the fictitious socialist state "Kantou". There, bizarre murders occur one after another, and a group of detectives from the 24 Police Station Violent Crimes Division set out to investigate the incidents. However, as he pursues the case, he finds Uehara Kamui, the culprit of the legendary murder "Silver Incident" that happened 20 years ago...

The main scenario "Transmitter" centered on the detectives of the 24 Police Station Violent Crimes Division

The story revolves around the legendary killer Uehara Kamui. Who is Uehara Kamui?

The main character, a former Special Forces member, is assigned to the 24th Police Station's Violent Crimes Division due to certain circumstances. Don't get me wrong, "Big Dick" is a nickname for the main character.

Everything about Goichi Suda The Crazy Horror Hidden in ADV

The main scenario "Transmitter" depicts the full story of the legend of Uehara Kamui, the fate of those who come into contact with Uehara Kamui, and the conspiracies of the organization that manipulates the 24th Ward behind the scenes. The player assumes the role of the main character (commonly known as "Dekachin") who was assigned to the 24th Police Criminal Division for some reason, and witnesses and investigates various incidents. Who is Uehara Kamui? What exactly is the Silver Incident? It is the purpose imposed on the player to investigate those answers.

By the way, there is no such thing as game over if you make a wrong choice, which is common in adventure games. Rather, there is no game over, and you can clear it just by reading the text, so don't worry.

"Placebo" is a sub-scenario drawn from the perspective of freelance journalist Tokio Morishima. The contents depict the back side of the incident that occurred in the main scenario and approach Uehara Kamui. Members of the 24 Police Station Violent Crimes Division may make cameo appearances

Placebo-exclusive characters also appear

In the main menu, you can choose main scenario and sub-scenario episodes

In addition to Transmitter, this work also has a sub-scenario called "Placebo". Freelance journalist Tokio Morishima is the main character, and while showing the back side of the incident that occurred in the main scenario, he approaches Uehara Kamui, the central character. In addition to complementing the parts that were not told in each episode of Transmitter, it has the role of presenting new aspects. When playing this work, it is desirable to play the style of reading the main scenario and sub-scenario alternately.

A serious story that embodies the darkness of humanity is drawn from beginning to end

There were times when I laughed out loud at the lines that were mixed with a unique sense of humor.

The style of this work is reminiscent of the mystery drama "Keizoku" that was broadcast in 1999. The story is a mix of seriousness that embodies the darkness of humanity and humor that is the opposite of that situation, but as the story progresses, Mr. Goichi Suda's sense permeates, leading to an unimaginable ending. The climax that destroys the concept of conventional detectives will give you goosebumps no matter how many times you play it. I want you to taste that overwhelming afterglow.

To be frank, the story of this work is difficult to summarize, and I'm ashamed to say that even I, who completed the game, still don't quite understand it. However, it can be said that the true charm of the Silver case and Mr. Goichi Suda is that he can be convinced that this is all right. I don't know why, but it's funny, and it's strange that when you forget about it, you want to play it again.

"Film Window," a video technique developed within a square frame

This work uses a unique video technique called "Film Window." Multiple windows displaying information such as the stage, character faces, and scenes are displayed.

The feature of this work is the original image technique called "film window". This displays multiple windows showing information such as the stage and characters, and gives a different impression from a text adventure like a picture-story show. The abstract yet dynamic visuals are addictive, and even though it's a 1999 work, the cutting-edge design that looks ahead of the future is just cool.

The part where you explore the area from the main character's point of view. Read through the story using the three commands "move", "talk" and "examine".

A code-breaking mini-game is also available. If you press the magnifying glass mark, it will automatically answer (the original version had the answer written in the manual)

The story depicted in this work is unmistakably fictional, but the many pieces of information that are included here and there contain a vividness that reminds us of 1999. 3D graphics, live-action footage, and animation are sometimes played, but the original version remained even after remastering. If I were to describe it as a fusion of the past and the present, would I be able to convey it? Silver 2425 felt like a successful remaster that would satisfy both new and old-timers alike.

If you think about it, I was a shiny elementary school student when the Silver Case was released. What kind of person would I have become if I had encountered the Silver Incident when I was in elementary school?
