Docomo introduces ``36-time payment'' for terminals; also launches ``Smartphone Welcome Program'' that exempts 12 payments for returning smartphones [updated]

From June 1, NTT DoCoMo will add "36 times" to the number of installment payments (installments) for the terminal price. Along with that, we will introduce a "smartphone return program" that exempts 12 out of 36 payments by returning the terminal. There is no monthly fee for the program.

The Smartphone Welcome Program is a 36-time payment for smartphones designated by Docomo, with the condition that the purchased device will be returned. A program that does not require (waived) up to 12 payments. A docomo line contract is required at the time of application, but there are no conditions such as "continuation of the line contract" or "change of model" when applying.

DOCOMO will make a 36-time payment Introduced

For example, even if you cancel the docomo line (including MNP transfer) after subscribing to the program, the program can be applied if the installment contract at the time of purchasing the terminal remains.

These two conditions

The exemption amount is 12 installment payments from the month following the purchase of the terminal to the 24th month. After that, the amount will be reduced once a month.

In addition, if the assessment criteria that DOCOMO meets when returning the terminal are not met, a "failure usage fee" of 20,000 yen (2,000 yen when subscribing to mobile compensation service or mobile compensation service for iPhone & iPad) will be charged. It is said that the standards of the "trade-in program" will be applied mutatis mutandis.

If you use this program to return the device, you will have to bring it to a DOCOMO dealer*. However, at some dealers, if the balance of the installment payment at the time of return exceeds 10,000 yen, it cannot be handled.

* The docomo online shop only accepts program subscriptions (must be returned to a nearby docomo dealer)

It is said that the terminal after trade-in is mainly "sold to partner companies" (related parties).
