ロング氏は、2009年以降はAppleのCMには出演していません。しかし広告ニュースサイトCampaignによれば、Huaweiが同氏にCM出演を求めた最大の理由は、過去にAppleのCMに出演していたという経歴にあったようです。 そのため当初Huaweiはロング氏に対し、AppleのCMに出演していた過去をはっきり示すCMづくりを提示したようですが、ロング氏や広告代理店が、以前の経験を若干匂わせる程度にとどめるよう説得した、とCampaignは伝えています。

ロング氏出演のCM第1弾は「面接」というタイトルで、ロング氏がMate 9と向かい合って座り、自分がHuaweiの新CMの監督にどれだけふさわしいかを主張する内容になっています。 「こうした機会を与えてくださってありがとうございます」というセリフから始まり、「テクノロジーでは豊富な経験があります。監督した経験があるか？ないです。監督の衣装は持っているか？スカーフと帽子とベストですか？持っています」 Mate 9はロング氏に対し、絵文字や画像、動画で答えます。ロング氏は続けます。「あなたはスマートで効率的、充電しなくても2日間持つ。本当にすばらしい」 ロング氏が採用となったことを伝えるのに、Mate 9は花火の動画を再生します。最後に「アルって呼んでもいいですか？」というロング氏に対し、初めて音声で「私の名前はAlexaです」と回答、Mate 9が音声アシスタンスAmazon Alexaを搭載していることも示しています。Source:Campaign via MacRumors(lunatic)
