Windows 11 useful tech

Windows 11 start menu

The Windows 11 Start menu is simpler than Windows 10. It's easy to use, but you can customize it to make it even easier to use. In addition to pinning your favorite apps, you can also pin folders and web pages, and place frequently used features such as Explorer next to the power button. Let's customize it to your liking.

What you can do with the start menu

The start menu, which is the starting point of the operation, has been changed to a simpler design in Windows 11.

In addition to displaying frequently used apps as [Pinned], apps and files that have been started in the past are automatically displayed as [Recommended], and are displayed in [All apps]. You can display a list of installed apps by switching.

In the conventional Windows 10, tiles are displayed as animations and the latest information of the application is displayed, but it is a simple configuration without such effects.

The first step in customizing your Start menu is to organize the Pinned items.

Even if you say frequently used apps, by default, apps such as "TikTok" that are delicate whether it is convenient to use from a PC are also registered, so right-click the apps you do not use and [Unpin from start] Delete it with, or [Uninstall] if you don't need it.

Conversely, frequently used apps can be easily launched by moving them to a location that is easy to see. In particular, apps installed later will be added to the end of the second page of [Pinned], so right-click and select [Move to Top] to place it at the top, or drag it to your liking. It's a good idea to move it to a place.

Since the application installed later is registered on the second page, you can move it to the top where you want to move it.

Pin folders and web pages

Not only apps but also folders and web pages can be registered in the start menu.

To pin a folder, right-click the folder you want to pin in Explorer and select [Pin to Start Menu].

By default, Show Frequently Used Apps is turned off. Needless to say, if you have an app that launches relatively well, you can turn this setting on to reduce the number of clicks.

If you have a chance to show your desktop screen to a third party, such as in a presentation, it is recommended that you turn off Show recently opened items in Start, Jump List, and File Explorer.

It is possible to prevent business-related file names from being inadvertently reflected.
